Koscielny set to return in a ‘matter of days’

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny hasn’t sustained knee ligament damage and will return ‘within days’, the Frenchman confirmed on his official Facebook page.

The 26-year-old had to be substituted during Wednesday night’s 4-0 Champions League defeat by AC Milan in the San Siro, after taking a knock on his knee.

Fellow Gunners defender Per Mertesacker is currently sidelined nursing an ankle ligament injury, leaving the shakey-looking Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci as further defensive options.

Koscielny is expected to have a late fitness test before Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Sunderland, with Djourou on standby to play if the former Lorient centre back isn’t rested.
